Thyroid and chemicals

More about plastic. Maybe you’re wondering why I’ve become so concerned about plastics and chemicals? I have had chronic inflammation in the thyroid gland for many years, and recently surgically removed half of the gland and a large goiter under the sternum. Autoimmune diseases can have many causes, but recent research links some chemicals and plastic, fluorine, bromine-based flame retardants and chlorine to thyroid disorders.

When I have studied the topic for my own part, I have also become more aware of the planet’s challenges. This applies to both environmentally toxic production, the release of chemicals during use, accumulation of plastic waste in the sea and nature, utilization of poor people as laborforce, and not least microplastic that we get into the food chain. It is actually quite gloomy. What can we do together? We must at least do what we can each of us, use the consumer power, and stand together in the work against this man-made disaster and, yes, to save the world …
